I believe that learning to use the toilet is more than just a milestone – it's a step toward confidence, independence, and self-awareness. My approach is rooted in respect for each child’s unique pace and readiness, blending proven techniques with gentle guidance. Potty training isn't about rushing or pressuring – it’s about empowering children to recognize their own body signals, feel capable, and take pride in their progress. I support adults and children through challenging transitions like toilet learning by offering clear, practical guidance that frees up more time for connection and joy.
I bring more than 20 years of experience in early childhood education, including Montessori training and work as a CLASS observer through Virginia’s VQB5 quality improvement program. I’ve developed a deep understanding of how young children learn and grow across a range of settings. In 2018, I founded The Tender Path to consult with families on key areas of childcare, including sleeping, eating, tantrums, and toileting. Potty Partners emerged from that work, combining my passion for child-led learning with practical, effective potty training strategies that fit real family life. I hold a degree in Early Childhood Development from UVA and have worked with families, caregivers, and schools to support children’s emerging independence. Over the years, I’ve guided more than 150 children from diverse backgrounds through successful toilet learning, helping each one build confidence, autonomy, and body awareness.
