I believe that learning to use the toilet is more than just a milestone – it's a step toward confidence, independence, and self-awareness. My approach is rooted in respect for each child’s unique pace and readiness, blending proven techniques with gentle guidance. Potty training isn't about rushing or pressuring – it’s about empowering children to recognize their own body signals, feel capable, and take pride in their progress. I support adults and children through challenging transitions like toilet learning by offering clear, practical guidance that frees up more time for connection and joy.
I bring more than 20 years of experience in early childhood education, including Montessori training and work as a CLASS observer through Virginia’s VQB5 quality improvement program. I’ve developed a deep understanding of how young children learn and grow across a range of settings. In 2018, I founded The Tender Path to consult with families on key areas of childcare, including sleeping, eating, tantrums, and toileting. Potty Partners emerged from that work, combining my passion for child-led learning with practical, effective potty training strategies that fit real family life. I hold a degree in Early Childhood Development from UVA and have worked with families, caregivers, and schools to support children’s emerging independence. Over the years, I’ve guided about 200 children from diverse backgrounds through successful toilet learning, helping each one build confidence, autonomy, and body awareness.
At Potty Partners, we offer thoughtful, practical support for families beginning or recalibrating their potty learning journey. Our approach centers on child readiness, adult leadership, and respectful routines—with options to meet you where you are.
The digital guide is a self-paced starting point that outlines signs of readiness, how to set up your environment, what to say during potty learning, and how to respond to misses without shame. It includes a printable routine chart and simple scripts to help you lead with confidence.
For families who want a bit more input, the mini consult includes a short intake form and a personalized written response with guidance based on your child’s age, experiences so far, and specific concerns. You’ll receive focused recommendations and next steps without needing to schedule a live call.
Families who are ready for more in-depth support can choose the full plan and two weeks of daily text coaching. This includes a detailed intake process, a customized plan within 48 hours, and responsive guidance as you move through the transition.
All options are designed to make this process easier, calmer, and more connected—for your child and for you.
Delayed potty training can significantly affect a center’s financial health and classroom dynamics. When children are unable to transition to the next age group due to toileting needs, it creates a bottleneck effect: younger classrooms remain full, limiting new enrollments and reducing potential revenue.
Investing in proactive toilet training support not only fosters children's independence but also enhances operational efficiency and financial sustainability for early childhood programs. I equip teachers and caregivers with the tools to foster confidence, independence, and a positive learning environment – whether they’re supporting one child or a whole classroom in the transition from diapers to the toilet.
When children aren't toilet trained, it can create costly ripple effects across schools and communities. Early childhood centers lose money and enrollment opportunities when kids can’t move up to the next classroom. Families face added expenses, and communities absorb increased diaper waste and disposal costs. Increasingly, school systems are adopting policies or responding to legislation that requires children to be toilet trained before they can enroll in certain public programs. Supporting toilet independence early not only promotes healthy development—it also saves time, money, and resources for everyone involved. It’s a smart investment with long-term benefits for families, schools, and the environment. Potty Partners workshops provide practical guidance for caregivers and the community at large to tackle potty training with confidence.
